Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
The House is in recess and the Senate will be soon. With this, our congressmen will head back to their districts and our senators will head back to their home states for roughly six weeks (now until after Labor Day). This means we players and enthusiasts have a terrific opportunity make a big impact. Meeting with your elected representatives while they are home and telling them to support H.R. 2888, the Internet Poker Freedom Act, and to oppose H.R. 707 / S. 1668, the Graham-Rubio online poker ban bill, will pay huge dividends. I hope you will be sure to do your civic duty while also advocating for your liberty by meeting with your lawmakers and/or their staffs during the recess. Another critical factor to winning the poker fight is financial support. We have very well heeled opponents fighting us, but we have numbers on our side. If you can make even a small contribution to PPA, you can help our ability as a community to continue taking the fight to our opponents. While Sheldon Adelson continues following through with his pledge to “spend whatever it takes” in his effort to ban online poker, our organized fight back will ensure that lawmakers know where the American people truly are on this issue. ![]() Write to Congress in Just 60 Seconds
Over the past two weeks, I shared with you an important action — sending both prewritten, fully editable letters to your elected representatives. If you have not yet had the chance to send yours, please take a moment now to send them out. They take just seconds to send (Letter #1, Letter #2). If you have sent them, thanks! I encourage you to share both with your friends and family, asking them to send these letters as well. Even if they do not play, they will surely wish to support your liberty. Thanks. ![]() ![]() Webcast: Poker Advocacy with Rich Muny
On this week’s Poker Advocacy with Rich Muny webcast, PPA Information Technology Manager Randy Lau joined me for a discussion on his background with PPA, this year’s WSOP, poker activism, and Sheldon Adelson’s ongoing efforts to ban our game. Following my chat with Randy, PPA MN State Director Mike Qualley and terrific activist Gail Schiffli joined me for a great poker panel discussion on the issues of the day. You won’t want to miss this.
