Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
I have very important news to share with you. Venetian Resort, Hotel & Casino parent Las Vegas Sands Corp. and its CEO, Sheldon Adelson, have significantly escalated their efforts to ban online poker & online casino gaming at the national and state level.
Adelson recently announced that he has set aside tens of millions of dollars to devote to this quest. He also announced that he has recruited former New York Governor George Pataki, former Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln, and former Denver mayor Wellington Webb to serve as spokespeople for this anti-Internet gaming coalition. I encourage you to take a moment to read the Washington Post front page article on this. Once done, please take a moment to leave a pro-poker comment there.
This is a very serious threat must be taken very seriously by the entire poker community. It will take a unified effort to beat this back. Can I count on you to do your part?
Full Tilt Poker Remission Update
The filing deadline for Full Tilt Poker victims remission claims submission has been extended for those tagged as affiliates and/or red pros. Those two groups will receive emails with further instructions and will have thirty days from that date to file their claims. For everyone else, the official deadline has passed but, per an update from claims administrator Garden City Group posted yesterday, late petitions may be considered. GCG advises, however, that there is no guarantee that late-filed petitions will be accepted.
GCG also posted an update regarding when we player can expect our funds: “We are in the process of reviewing Petitions filed by Petitioners who confirmed their balances online and who have not disputed their FTP Account Balance or submitted multiple Petitions. We expect payments to be made with respect to such Petitions with confirmed balances by March 31, 2014.”
