Over the past month or so, we have increased our presence on these sites even further. We encourage you to check them all out and we invite you to participate in the discussion. Don’t miss out on important breaking moments in poker…be sure to follow PPA on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ today!
Full Tilt Poker Update
Last week, I shared with you one potential method to obtain information on our balances on Full Tilt Poker, I received feedback from many of you. Some of you informed me that it worked perfectly, while others were not successful.
To clarify, this is not an official Full Tilt Poker method of finding our balances. Full Tilt Poker’s customer service team has been informing U.S. players that this is all in the hands of the claims administrator and that Full Tilt is not providing information on balances to U.S. players. So, what I shared is a workaround. It has worked for many, but not all.
One issue some have had has been in using the wrong client. Please be sure to go to www.FullTiltPoker.COM for the download. The .NET client is play money only. Another issue has been with the length of time Full Tilt Poker takes to process these requests. It may take a couple of days, so please be sure to wait for the email from Full Tilt informing you that your request has been processed (and, of course, check your profile to ensure they have an up-to-date email on file). Creating a new request cancels the prior one, delaying the process.
To verify that this method still works, I submitted a request yesterday evening using the process I outlined last week. My request was processed and I received my information.
If you are unable to retrieve information on your balance using this method, the good news is that checking early is not necessary. In just eleven days, Full Tilt Poker Claims Administrator Garden City Group will start accepting applications for remission of Full Tilt Poker balances. They have our balances, so all we will have to do is apply online.
Many have asked about uncleared checks, bounced checks, and other problems with transactions in the days prior to and immediately following Black Friday. PPA has discussed these with the Justice Department and with the claims administrator, ensuring they understand the potential for such issues. If you do find that there is a discrepancy between the GCG-determined balance and what you believe your balance to be, there will be a process in place to address this. We will learn more about the specifics of this as GCG releases information on the remission application process.
Again, be sure to pay close attention to the dates, as the window is short. GCG will start accepting applications for remission on September 16th. The deadline for applications is November 15th.
Senator McCain Spotted Playing Poker on his iPhone
On Tuesday, Arizona Senator John McCain was spotted playing online poker on his iPhone during a Senate hearing. He was playing ‘VIP Poker’ — a free money game with an option to purchase additional chips. He sent a tweet about it.
Was it appropriate to play poker during a Senate hearing of this importance? I imagine many eyebrows were raised. Should we reply to his tweet with admonitions to support passing legislation to license and regulate online poker? Of course! I encourage everyone to reply. Either reply in your own words or send the prefilled tweet here.
