Citizens All Across the Country are Testifying to Congress to Support Poker

By Poker Players Alliance
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Jason, Alabaster, AL

Honorable Spencer Bachus,

My name is Jason Hallman of Alabaster, AL. I am taking the time to write you on an issue I feel strongly about. I understand that online poker as well as “home games” are illegal, as of right now. I am an avid poker player both online and at home and I feel it is time to reverse these actions in which President push signed into law. People will continue to play and shouldn’t be looked upon as criminals for playing one of the oldest games in the history of man. Please take time to review this request to decriminalize all Poker games online and elsewhere within these United States of America.

Nick, Birmingham, AL

PPA Member’s Letter to the Editor: “Repeal gambling ban”

By William Grey
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

PPA Note: Letters to the editor are great advocacy tools. After you write letters to your members of Congress, sending letters to the editor can achieve other advocacy goals because they:

- reach a large audience.
- are often monitored by elected officials.
- can bring up information not addressed in a news article.
- create an impression of widespread support or opposition to an issue.

Repeal gambling ban

In October 2006, using back door politics, the U.S. Senate passed The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) by attaching it to a must-pass bill, The Port Security Act, which the president signed into law.
