Good news! On Wednesday, January 8, the New Hampshire full General Court passed pro poker bill H.B. 459, a bill that modernizes New Hampshire’s state gaming laws to explicitly exempt non-commercial home poker games from possible arrest and prosecution.
We could not have done this without New Hampshire State Director Patrick Fleming and we owe him big thanks! The next step is for H.B. 459 to head over to the State Senate, so watch your inbox for future updates and calls to action.
New Hampshire State Representative Tim O’Flaherty has agreed to sponsor a pro-poker bill in the 2014 legislative session. In the meantime, a pre-bill has been introduced, LSR 2014-H-2169, which is currently under review by Legislative Legal Services. The pre-bill would define poker as a game of skill: “Poker shall be considered a game of skill with respect to RSA 647:2″.
We wish to thank activist Kevin Bloom for his efforts to change poker laws in the Granite State. Please keep an eye on your inbox for future updates as this progresses.
