March 14th, 2008

If you care about your right to play poker, we need your help!
On Tuesday March 18th the Massachusetts State Legislature will be holding a hearing on the now infamous Mass. Casino Bill. As you know, tucked away in this bill is a sneaky provision that makes playing Internet poker, or any form of internet gambling, a felony punishable by up to TWO YEARS IN PRISON and serious fines.
The PPA will be holding a rally in support of poker and opposing this ridiculous criminalization provision, on the steps of the State House. But we can’t do this without the help of Massachusetts poker players. Come to the State House in Boston at 8:30 AM on Tuesday March 18th for a Rally in support of Poker. We will be handing out Free T-shirts that say POKER IS NOT A CRIME, as well as coffee and doughnuts. We will be there rain or shine and poker needs you to come out to defend the game! The hearing starts at 10 AM and they expect large crowds, that is why we need you there early so poker players voices are heard.
Just as importantly, regardless of if you can attend the rally, please call these members of the Massachusetts State Legislature who sit on the Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies, and tell them that this provision MUST GO!!. Call them before March 18th.
