As you know, Memorial Day is more than just at time to have a family BBQ or go on a three day weekend. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died serving our nation. It also is a great time for you as a poker player to meet with your U.S. House Representative when he/she is home during this historically long congressional recess to discuss the importance of passing a federal online poker bill this year.
The PPA has made it easy for you to schedule a meeting with your U.S. Representative during the Memorial Day recess, which runs from May 19th thru May 29th, in his/her district office.
Please call your Member of Congress ( click here to find your Members of Congress) and ask to speak with the staffer who handles your Rep.’s district schedule. Ask to schedule a face to face meeting him/her in their district office. Before you go don’t forget to print these important leave behinds that we have compiled for your meeting. They include; talking points, summary of H.R. 2366 and the recent letter from the Fraternal Order of Police in support of licensing and regulating online poker. You can print them either in color or black and white. Click here to download the file and then print.
During your meeting please let your Representative know:
- You’re a constituent, voter and a proud poker enthusiast
- You respectfully ask him/her to support pending online poker federal legislation
- That it’s important to you that he/she protect your rights to play the great game of poker
Make sure to give your Member of Congress the PPA handouts, exchange your business card should you have one and thank him/her for meeting with you.
Should you have any questions prior to attending your schedule meeting please feel free to respond to this email with your questions and someone from the PPA will contact you.
It is important as poker players that we not only pay our respects to those who have worked to protect our freedom but to take a stand in support of protecting our rights to play the great American pastime of poker.
Proud to play,
Drew Lesofski
Director, Grassroots and External Affairs
