The Poker Players Alliance is asking its members to schedule meetings with their elected officials on May 24th, the day of PPA’s official Washington, D.C. “Fly In” event.
If you are able to travel to Washington, D.C., on May 24th, that will be the best opportunity to meet with your members of Congress or their staffs. If not, we ask that you contact your lawmaker’s district office to schedule a meeting locally on that same day.
This is the best opportunity for PPA members and the poker community to rally together to tell Federal lawmakers to license and regulate online poker. Please join us in this effort.
Below is information on how to schedule a meeting with your lawmakers.

Below is information on how to schedule a meeting with your lawmakers.
- Determine who your Representative and two Senators are. Visit www.congress.org, enter your zip code, and it will provide that information. (note: you may be required to also provide your address as many House Representatives share zip codes). Please request meetings with all three of your Federal elected officials (one House Representative and two Senators).
- Call their Washington, D.C., office (if you want to meet in D.C.) or the district office closest to you (if you can’t travel to D.C.) Ask to speak to the scheduler to arrange an appointment.
- You will likely be asked what you want to talk about. Tell them you would like to meet with your Representative or Senator in person and/or the appropriate aide, and that you want to talk about licensing and regulation of online poker as well as HR 1174. Please note, in most cases, you will meet with a staff member, not the lawmaker.
- Some offices may require you to fax your request or submit your request through their website. Once you do so, call in a few days to follow up.
- If you are unable to talk to someone, leave a clear message and keep calling back every few days. You may also want to check the lawmaker’s website in case there is a meeting request form online you can use.
- Be sure to thank the person who assists you, as well as send a thank you note to anyone you meet with.
- Once you secure a meeting, call to confirm a day or two prior to the meeting. Also, let the PPA know about your meeting by emailing [email protected] Provide your name, email, city, state, phone number and the member(s) of Congress you will be meeting with.
- Check the PPA website periodically between now and May 24th. We will be posting updates, talking points and other relevant information that will help you in your meetings.
Thank you for your dedication to the PPA and to protecting our rights to play poker!
