Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
I have good news to share. This week, a bill to license online poker was introduced in the New York State Senate. S 5302 would license and regulate online poker in the Empire State. It is poker-only and does not include a divisive “bad actor” clause. While it may be an underdog this year, it is a great platform for us to advocate to New York lawmakers. It may pick up steam this year, like we have seen in Pennsylvania, or it may simply lay a great foundation for future legislation. For details, please be sure to read Chris Grove’s excellent article on this issue on Online Poker Report (here). Also, we at PPA are proud to welcome 2004 WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer back to the PPA Board of Directors. Greg has been a tremendous advocate for the game and for the right to play it in all its forms (online, cardrooms, casino poker rooms, home games, etc.) for over a decade. Please join us in welcoming Greg back to the Board. Take Action
Good news. A poll released today shows that, by a two to one margin, the people of Pennsylvania want a safe and regulated market for Internet poker and other Internet betting. PPA issued a press release highlighting the findings in this new poll, which I encourage you to read. I also encourage you to take a moment to check out this PennLive article on the poll. The poll is the basis for their Question of the Day, so please be sure to add a comment (here). To comment, you must sign in. The quickest way is to log in via Facebook or Twitter. Of course, if you prefer, you can sign up for an account directly. If you see an error message, simply refresh the page. It is important that media see the support for poker. This is also a great opportunity to expose readers who do not know all the facts to the pro-poker position. Thanks! PPA WSOP Seat Giveaway Entry Deadline is this Friday
