Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
Last week, I shared with you Las Vegas Sands (Venetian, Palazzo and Sands Bethlehem) CEO Sheldon Adelson’s escalation against online poker — including his recent face-to-face meeting with the entire Republican contingent of the House Judiciary Committee. At this meeting, Adelson expressed to them his desire for Congress to ban online poker across America and implored the committee to push his anti-poker agenda forward.
At the time I shared this with you, to the best of my knowledge it had not yet been reported. I am glad we at PPA were able to break the news on this important story, and am pleased now to share third-party corroboration. I encourage you to read this important piece recently published on Townhall.com: Adelson Visits DC to Reboot Effort to Outlaw Online Gambling. From the article:

After spending millions of dollars to help elect a Republican House and Senate, Capitol Hill sources report Las Vegas gambling mogul Sheldon Adelson received a private briefing with Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee in the second week of January.
The meeting sends a strong signal that the billionaire, who is one of the most generous contributors to Republican candidates and campaigns—ever, will not retreat away from his desire to outlaw legal and regulated Internet gaming by the states. |

As I mentioned last week, we are up against a very formidable opponent. We outmaneuvered him in 2014, but he is clearly not going away.
PPA is committed to fighting this fight through, taking the fight to Adelson. Can I count on you to fight the fight alongside your fellow poker players and enthusiasts?
Take Action
I would like to invite you to participate in the Poker Daily Action Plan. This daily advocacy plan typically takes just three minutes to complete. It is targeted and well designed to ensure influential lawmakers are hearing from us, with particular focus on social media. As Sheldon Adelson has virtually no social media presence, this is a great way for us to show lawmakers that the American people do not want a nationwide online poker ban.
PPA Executive Director John Pappas is on Capitol Hill virtually every day, meeting with lawmakers to tell them we demand our right to play. Industry lobbyists are there with a similar message. Our efforts give them the ammo they need, and their lobbying efforts amplify our grassroots efforts. It is synergy that makes these actions extremely effective.
To participate and to discuss the fight with a terrific group of activists, please visit my Facebook page at facebook.com/RichMuny and the action page at facebook.com/PokerDailyActionPlan. Thanks!
