Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
I have good news to share this week. A bill that would license online poker in Washington State, where the mere act of playing is currently a felony, was prefiled for introduction late last week by state Rep. Sherry Appleton [D-23].
HB 1114 is the outcome of a long-running effort by Curt Woodard, the person behind the Washington Internet Poker Initiative. Curt has been on my webcast several times, preaching the importance of volunteering and of taking action rather than expecting the next guy or gal to do it for him. He will be back on the program this Monday at 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT. Tune in live at www.ontiltradio.com.
If you live in Washington State, be sure to tell your lawmakers to support licensing of online poker.
The Poker Community Lost a Great Advocate This Week
I have very sad news to share. Investigative poker journalist Diamond Flush passed away this week after a battle with cancer. She was a terrific, outspoken, tireless advocate for the integrity of the game of poker.
Diamond was on my webcast several times over the past few years. Many players shared their gratitude to her for coming on the show and on poker forums to share all she knew about the Full Tilt Poker remission process, which at that time had not yet started.
Diamond will be missed greatly by the entire poker community.
Webcast: Poker Advocacy with Rich Muny
On this week’s Poker Advocacy with Rich Muny webcast, poker histories, writer, and player Johnny Hughes joined me live with tales of the Wild West & poker.
We discussed history, psychology, etiquette, the Old Days, the Old West, and colorful gamblers like Minnesota Fats, Benny Binion, Amarillo Slim, Doyle Brunson, Wyatt Earp, and Bat Masterson. You won’t want to miss this!
