Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
The push for federal online poker legislation continues in the Senate. This is very much an uphill fight, so I ask that we all do our part to stand up for our right to play!
Take Action
| Minnesota poker professional Jason “PBJaxx” Senti, best known for his seventh-place finish in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, has taken the lead in putting together today’s community action plan! Let’s all participate: |
Right now is an important time for our fight for regulated online poker in the US. While I am no expert when it comes to politics, many believe our best chance at federal legislation of online poker in the U.S. is this month during the lame duck session of Congress.
The Daily Action Plan (here and here) is still the best way to make sure that you are getting your message out there regularly to as many people of influence as possible. That said, not everyone has the time and/or willingness to commit to take those actions every day.
Please join me in making our voices heard on Wednesday, December 12th. I hope you can take 60 seconds to help for just one day to help our cause.
Similar to the DAP, the pre-filled Twitter messages in the 12/12/12 action plan are generic in asking that our lawmakers support our right to play online poker in our own homes. If you prefer to be more specific, the tweets are fully editable and you can change them to your own message.
Online poker is easy for politicians to ignore, but I hope we will be loud enough on this day that we show how important this issue is to us. Please spread the word about this to other poker players on Twitter, Facebook, and any other way you can think of!
Let’s come together as a community for this one day to let our elected leaders know that online poker is very important to us.
Twitter (Takes Just One Minute):
Click HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE to send pre-filled tweets to our politicians. Just hit submit to send the message “as is,” or you can edit them as you wish.
Contact Your Lawmakers:
I understand not everyone is on Facebook and Twitter, but we can ALL visit, call, and email our elected representatives! To set up a visit with one or both of your Senators’ staffs at a local office, simply click HERE for all the info you will need. Using the same link for contact information, you can call your lawmakers to ask for their support for poker. The discussion is as simple as, “I encourage the senator to support my right to play online poker in my own home on my own computer. Thank you!”
Finally, please send a letter to your senators. Sending a letter could not be simpler. You can send a prewritten, fully editable letter in support of poker to both of your senators in just 60 seconds simply by clicking here or the button below!
Facebook:
Please leave pro poker comments on House Speaker John Boehner’s (HERE and HERE), Senator Harry Reid’s, and President Barack Obama’s Facebook walls. Leave a comment on any recent wall post. It can be as simple as the message from the prefilled tweet or the prefilled letter above. Be sure to like the other pro poker comments!
Thank you for participating!

PPA New England Town Hall
I have received great feedback regarding the December 1st PPA New England Town Hall from attendees and podcast listeners. Many noted PPA Executive Director John Pappas’ no-spin discussion and were appreciative of the frankness of the information shared. They also liked the open discussion format.
So, I am very pleased to share that we posted the entire video online! I encourage everyone to take time to watch it by clicking here or below. I hope you too will find it interesting and informative!
