Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
Following last week’s successful town hall meetings in Florida, PPA Director of Grassroots & External Affairs Drew Lesofski and I headed to northern Kentucky for the Greater Cincinnati PPA Town Hall Meeting last Saturday, where we were joined by Indiana State Director Bruce Hugon and Ohio State Director Corey Carone (I am the KY state director). We had another terrific, detailed discussion on all that PPA is doing and why, with emphasis on support for all forms of poker – online, card room, charity gaming, home games, etc. Special thanks to Bruce and Corey for their taking the time to do this and for their volunteerism!

Take Action
Let’s keep telling lawmakers to support our rights. By doing this, we are telling them that we will never fold in this fight. These grassroots actions are very powerful. They empower the pro-poker lobbying effort on Capitol Hill, so let’s all be sure to participate. I created a new online petition to specific Members of Congress, including one member who is not on either Twitter or Facebook. As the petition system emails each recipient with the results, this is yet one more avenue by which we can reach each member!
Will you please take a moment to sign the petition? Thanks!
- Let’s all sign the petition HERE.
- Let’s promote the petition via the prefilled tweet HERE, by sharing the post HERE on our own Facebook walls, and by any other social media you use.
- Let’s send a prefilled tweet promoting today’s action plan HERE (or retweet HERE), and let’s share the action on our own Facebook walls HERE.
- If you use Klout, please consider giving a +K for the topics “Poker” and “Congress” HERE. A higher score may help our efforts (and can’t hurt the effort).
- If you did not sign the previous Change.org petition, please do so now HERE. We are just 900 signatures from 10,000!
- I understand not everyone can sign up for Facebook or Twitter to participate in these kinds of actions. As an alternate, I encourage reaching out to Congress via a phone call. Simply visit theppa.org/takeaction and scroll down to item #2 for talking points and a lookup tool for your lawmakers’ phone numbers. Thanks!
Did you Communicate with Your Member of Congress? We Need Your Feedback!
Thank you for taking the time to email, call, and meet with your Member of Congress. Communication from PPA advocates like you is one of the most effective ways to push our goals forward. As we move closer to the November elections, we will provide you with tools you will need to make an informed decision about candidates and their position on your poker rights.
In the coming weeks, we will launch a brand new version of our Congressional Ratings Guide website. We need your help in completing the effort to assign grades to every member of the U.S. House and Senate and would like to know if you have received a response (written or verbal) from your Representative or Senators regarding their stance on the game of poker (online, card room, B&M, etc.). Rest assured, PPA and its lobbying team have been canvasing Capitol Hill for this information, so lawmakers’ direct responses to constituents are valuable in this effort.
Please take a moment and let us know what you have heard. If you sent an email to your Member of Congress and they responded back, please forward their response to [email protected]. If you met or had a phone call with your Member of Congress, either in DC or at a district office, please tell us how it went at [email protected]. Your feedback is very important to us and will directly affect the grading process of members of the House and Senate. Thank you for your time and thank you for your action on behalf of the PPA. We look forward to hearing from you!
