I hope you have had a chance to read the update you received from PPA yesterday highlighting PC World’s very favorable review of the poker community’s social networking activism. Our efforts were mentioned alongside Arab Spring and other world events of great significance. We poker enthusiasts are clearly having an impact, so will you do your part to keep this up by participating in these poker advocacy efforts?
Grassroots poker advocacy has demonstrated to your elected representatives that there are
millions of real people supportive of the pro-poker effort. Our efforts also serve to provide objective evidence to lawmakers that there are not hordes of anti-gaming Americans waiting to pounce on anyone who supports the right to play poker. Lawmakers check their Twitter feeds, Facebook walls, and email inboxes and see not only a lot of pro-poker activity, but little to no anti-poker activity in response. In many cases, this runs directly contrary to the expectations of many elected representatives.
As a result of our momentum, there have been numerous Congressional hearings on the online poker issue. In fact, as I shared last week, the
Senate Indian Affairs Committee is holding another hearing to examine the impact of Internet gaming on Thursday, February 9th at 2 PM ET (more info here). Will do your part to support this hearing?

As PPA is a membership organization, it is important for all of us to be paid members. Every membership dollar PPA raises goes directly to the fight for poker rights.
