    I am not into graphics design or anything like that. But I do agree with the OP, the logo just doesn't shout out POKER!!! It does and always has appeared to me to look more like a royal family crest of some unheard of family in England.

    It takes time to study the poker chip to realize that it is even a poker chip. Its too cluttered. The OP wasn't suggesting that his logo is the only other option. He merely presented the FIRST one that he came up with. Given proper indication of what the PPA desires, a fantastic logo might be arrived at and it doesn't have to come just from the OP.
