Proposed Internet Gaming Regulations Force Private Industry Into the Personal Decisions of Law-Abiding Americans
PPA encourages individual poker players to review and comment on the proposed rules

Washington, DC (October 1, 2007) – Earlier today, the Department of the Treasury and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System announced the release of a joint proposed rule to implement the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.  While the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is still fully reviewing the proposed rule a cursory review reveals that the NPRM continues down the misguided path set forth by the Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act signed into law last year.  The PPA has released the following statement:

The State of Poker

Tonight, in an annual tradition, the President of the United States will address the Congress, his cabinet and our country on the “state of the union” and the goals of the government for 2007.  It is not likely the president will include the “state of poker” among his crucial national issues.  Thus, I  would like to take this moment to provide an update on where poker sits today and examine how you and the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) can continue to work together to preserve and protect the game we love.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ — President Bush today signed into law a ban on online wagering, impacting 23 million Americans who enjoy the game of poker on the Internet. Poker Players Alliance: Congress Ignores Public Sentiment, Approves Internet Poker Prohibition

Washington, DC (September 30, 2006) — In a Congressional back room deal, opponents of Internet gambling have added language to port security legislation that would prohibit online wagering.  The port security bill with the Internet gambling prohibition language included was approved by the U.S House and Senate late on Friday evening and will be sent to the President to be signed into law. Poker Players Call on Senate to Oppose Online Gambling Ban

Washington, D.C.(September 14, 2006) – The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the game staged a “Phone March” on Capitol Hill, Tuesday September 12th.  The effort, lead by the PPA and supported by leading poker blogs and forums, placed more than 3,000 phone calls from concerned constituents to U.S. Senate offices expressing their opposition to legislation that would ban online poker.  Many Senators received more than 100 calls from their constituents.
