The U.S. has gambling poker shows on T.V. This leads Americans to beleive They can gamble at cardrooms like the rest of the world. Like Russia, China, Norway, UK, Ausrtalia, and Canada. But it is'nt legal in the us so American's just burn their money up at these sites. Although you may get to these sites in the U.S. They have telecom blocking so you can'nt win if you do go to these sites in the U.S. You can'nt even win a bad best prize in the U.S. Google is haveing provlems like this in China. Because like the U.S., China envisions the internet developing in ways that are very different from the rest of the world.

Us&China Telecom Blocking

I've been playing on online cardrooms from the US for years. So do my friends. Myself and others win and get paid on a regular basis. And as far as I can tell, it is legal for us.
In the US, when a poker room blocks you from using it from your home, it is the poker room, not the telcoms that are blocking you. The poker rooms block by mapping your IP address to a geographic location.
There are occasions where internet cafes block poker sites, but this is not government action, it is the policy of the restaurant. Actually the business to business agreement between the restaurant and the hosting company that gets it's feed from a telcom or similar provider.
My point is the government and the telcoms are not blocking.

Today, Yahoo! News has a story about Sec. Clinton getting flack from the Chinese because she spoke out about their internet practices.
I particulary loved the irony of an American government official saying things like, "But countries that restrict free access to information or violate the basic rights of Internet users risk walling themselves off from the progress of the next century."
And who could forget these lines, "Censorship should not be in any way accepted by any company from anywhere. American companies need to make a principled stand. This needs to be part of our national brand. I’m confident that consumers worldwide will reward companies that follow those principles."
All I could think about the whole time I was reading this was "What about poker?" I guess it isn't cool to shine the light on our own country's problems.

Bayma,
Sorry, but that's not correct. There is no telecom blocking in the US. Some sites choose not to accept US customers, but they block on their end, not ours.
I access sites, play sites, and get paid from sites just fine, as do millions of players in all fifty states. Hopefully we'll all keep the pressure on Congress to keep it that way.
