I found this article on Yahoo. Although it doesn't mention online poker or gambling at all, it discusses regulation of the internet. I must say I felt good after reading this particular article. This article backs up the PPA's stance that they took in Minnesota I believe. The U.S. government cannot regulate the internet! Here is the link...

I thought I would clarify this for you, as you know, I like to hear myself type.

The article is actually about the Federal Government regulating the internet, not the other way around as your comment suggests. The issue here is "Net Neutrality." The FCC had previously established four "principles," but had not established a regulation concerning Net Neutrality. Now the FCC chairman wants to add two more principles and give all six the force of law.

I suspect the PPA does not have a position on this. I wouldn't know, I don't represent the PPA nor am I involved in policy. (Of course if I was involved in policy I'd probably call up Gigi and tell her we wanted to sign onto this effort - in name, not resources, and gain some allies for the next time we have a battle in an allied arena.)

The issue would be that we do not want the various carriers - Verizon, Comcast, Cox, and other ISPs to decide they want to block or slow down poker traffic. It was proposed in Michigan by the state.

An odd example might be based on the recent sale of the World Poker Tour (WPT). Harrah's owns the WSOP. Let's suppose that for some reason AT&T bought the WPT. They might decide to speed up WPT packets and slow down WSOP packets. This is the type of thing that has happened in the past and why Net Neutrality is an issue.
