For some days I have had the feeling that posts I make here show up on the board, but then a few days later are "missing". Well, I'm more sure of it now. Some of my posts are missing. In fact, entire threads with my posts and others seem to be missing.

Additionally, the messages here seem to be being renumbered. I've sent out newsletters with links to specific messages on here, but the threads I linked to seem to be gone and other threads are in their place.

    What's up?

    Hi Big Jim,

There are probably several answers to your question. The biggest reason things are changing and in flux is that the PPA changed its URL. You will have to ask the tech guys how much disruption this is causing, and how long it will last, but my personal experience is that anytime they change something like that there are technical glitches.

Also, as one of the moderators here, I can tell you we sometimes move posts when we think they should be in a different sub-forum. We usually state in the thread that we are doing that, though.

Finally, we did recently delete some posts. Some posts were made on here clearly for the purpose of offering items for sale. While we have nothing against that in general, the PPA forum is not intended to be the "graigslist" for poker products. We are a discussion board. No post on here will ever get deleted because of the opinion it expresses, of that I can assure you, we are all way too staunch 1st Amendment believers to ever let that occur. But posting what are essentially commercial advertisements is not what this board is for, and even if they are poker related, we will delete them just as we delete the spam posts offering to sell you viagra. ;). Allowing commercial activity here is just not within our means or our mission.

    Hope that explains it!

    Hello asandst2 (Tuff Fish)!

Thanks for the renewal and donation!

We are all sorry that you are mostly MIA these days. I am certain you have good reasons though. And if one of them involves viagra, well more power to you my friend ;).

I too just paid my 2009 PPA membership dues. Thanks for all the hard work you guys are doing around the country. I have emailed my representatives numerous times but have not been able to budge them from their "family values" oriented negativity toward on-line poker. That does not mean I will stop writing them however!

Keep up the good work guys and again thanks for being on the front lines of this fight for our on-line poker freedom!

Thanks, Skallagrim, for the reply to my query.

I appreciate your support of 1st amendment free speech rights, but the first amendment applies to government actors, not private membership organizations such as the PPA. Feel free to consult a first amendment attorney if you don't believe me.

An example of a specific message thread that is missing is the PPA press release and other comments and threads related to the instant echeck seizures by the US Attorneys office. This involved a posting, by I presume a PPA board member, and commentary on the situation to which the PPA is suggesting they should be a party to - either as a representative of their effected members, or as an amici.

One of my replies involved my researching the effect of the action on London market stock prices and the work I did with my Windows(tm) calculator to determine the delta percentages for London Exchange stock prices. The thread is missing. It's gone. First amendment or not.

And in a newsletter I sent out about the event, the forum links I put in about the PPA and the US Attorney's action no longer point to the forum page talking about the situation. Kind of makes me leery of linking to the PPA forum website again.

I'm confussed. And I no longer know where to by MyFace chips either.

Do you have a particular reason to be nasty to me Mr. Slade? I am an attorney, and I have litigated 1st amendment cases in my career. As anyone who reads the post would be aware, the legal distinction between state actors and private actors is irrelevant to the principle I was defending.

Where that other post went I don't know - there have been technical glitches. And this is far from the first site to have them.

No. I have no particular reason to be nasty to you Mr. Skallagrim. I treat everyone about the same.

I sometimes forget I am just a cartoon character walking amidst trained professionals.

Honestly though - it does not look like a glitch to me. I've never used BBpress and don't know how it operates, but it looks more to me like someone purposely deleted several threads with similar themes then compressed and reordered the database making past links invalid.
