Since I have only posted a few times on here, I'm not sure if this should go under a specific topic. If it is, sorry, I'm new.

At any rate, my question is just a general "feeling" with pay sites (FTP, PS, etc.) vs. the "membership" sites (clubwpt, spadeclub, etc.). I am just curious to know what others' experiences are of each vs. one another: which do you prefer, why, etc. I know the legal ramifications are fuzzy when playing on a pay site, but the membership ones seem to get around that legal question. Is it really worth it to do the membership thing or just go to Full Tilt and fire it up? Any thoughts, insight would be appreciated!

  2. I signed up for the trial of ClubWPT around Christmas time as I saw the tournament on TV. It's around $20 a month and you get a certain amount of points daily to play in tournaments. To be honest, I thought it was a horrible site and there are many more donkeys on there that most online poker sites. Take a look at their forum postings and you'll see many people complain about the frustration of not playing against players that give a shit. Since the tournament they're playing in doesn't have an actual cash entry, it's basically like playing in a free tournament on any other poker site where you get guys making stupid calls and going all in with 7-2 early in the tournament. I cancelled my membership during the trial period and would not recommend it to anyone but maybe others have found it to be okay.

Thanks for your insight/opinion. I feel about the same and just wanted to know if my opinion was unwarranted. The free trial for yours truly runs out in a week or so and I'm not too likely to stick around. I also play at Full Tilt. Any opinions on that or any other pay sites?

That's bad???? One makes money in poker by taking advantage of the mistakes of others. Seems you'd be seeking out bad players. I know I do.

  5. Engineer,

I can empathize with "PicksPokerTables" (is there any more to that name? it actually seems to cut off on my screen.. might need to adjust some of the style to that part of the forum).

There is a point where when you're absolutely surrounded by horrible players, that you just can't dodge everyone everywhere. If I sit at a 10 person game, I'd like to have 5-6 solid, even rock-like players. Makes it a lot easier to walk through a minefield when you have known people you can avoid.
