Can someone update us on what is going on with Instant eChecks and the NYAG office.
Is PPA going to make a comment on this today?
Thank you.

The next question is "Why no comment so far?" This is THE story that has been affecting online poker players for almost two weeks now, but you wouldn't know it from this site. If nothing else, it gives the appearance that the PPA is ineffectual and out of touch.
Actually, this story began breaking last week. It involves a payment processing company that is not run by the PPA. Information needs to be gathered, and certain entities privacy needs to be respected, and a response plan needs to be formulated. PPA will issue a statement on this subject, I just can't say when at this point.
It is IMHO more important for the PPA to give an accurate and thought out statement than to give a fast statement that we later discover may not have been completely accurate.

Skallagrim, a simple statement like the one you just gave would have gone a long way towards showing that the PPA was aware of the situation. The fact that there isn't even a mention of it on the home or even the news page of the website is, imho, inexcusable.
I agree, Some kind of simple statement saying that they are aware and looking into this would have been expected by now.
The lack of response so far is disappointing.
Why were my questions taken off this forum?
Hey Skall, does this G911 article make any sense at all. http://www.gambling911.com/gambling-...ms-061009.html
Doesn't the seizure of funds that some members of the PPA have a claim grant standing to the PPA to litigate all issues related to this seizure? Also, aren't FTP and PS members of the PPA which provides standing to the PPA? Lastly, how big a concern is the potential that the court would order owners of FTP and/or PS to appear to testify?
G911 is not a truly reliable source. Their main interest is sports betting and they hold a grudge against the PPA because we wont commit to an "all gambling or no gambling" position. We at the PPA really dont think poker should be included in the term "gambling" at all. Poker is a competition of relative skill, and while luck plays a role, skill is the predominant factor in determining who wins at poker.
Good sports betting does take some skill, no doubt. And there are folks who claim they are good enough at predicting winners to make a living at sports betting. But the key difference, both conceptually and legally, is that when you bet on sports you are wagering on the outcome of something over which you have no personal control. In Poker, when you put your money up, you are wagering on an outcome where your skill controls (for the most part) your outcome.
PS and FTP are not members of the PPA, although we do work closely together. The PPA clearly has standing in this SDNY case as our members' money was seized. And finally, it is unlikely that the owners of FTP and PS will be witnesses in this case; it is really up to them, though, since I doubt that a court can get jurisdiction over them unless they let it happen.
Good to hear from you again JP!

With all the controversy at 2+2, I thought that I would post in this forum a request for an update on the SDNY seizure matter. Have any of the affidavits etc. been released? Anything happening about challenging the DOJ in court? Just curious.
Things are moving, but slowly, JP. There is a reason for the slow movement. Now that the issue has become public, DOJ officials higher up than the SDNY are evaluating the case. Since their reaction is not yet known, there is good reason to talk to them and wait and see what they decide. If there is even small chance that the higher ups will step in and reverse, even partially, the SDNY action, we need to not foreclose that chance.
That also provides us with time to fully prepare our next move if the talking proves useless. Speaking of which, you didn't have any personal cashout issues did you? If you did I would like to discuss them with you privately.
