No need to panic and cash out

I have done somewhere around 5 hours of research on this since the UIGEA was finalized to find out just exactly what the situation is and I have heard from multiple sources that this law clearly does not prevent the player from cashing out and receiving their funds. The law only attempts to make it harder to get money online.

It is not illegal for you to play poker online.

You money will be just fine and always be accessable on your site regaurdless of this law.

IMO the biggest fear here is that more online poker sites chickin out and start to refuse service to U.S. players. And even if this happens your funds will still be fine. I dealt with this in 2006 when ipoker network stopped dealing with U.S. players. I was still able to get on the site and cashout. I was just denied from being able to sit at tables.

I hope this can alleviate some of the fears that you guys might have. I know it might feel like the sky is falling but once you do the research it doesn't seem like time to panic. It definately is not a good thing but IMO not nearly as bad as in 2006 when the bill was passed.

Appreciate the calm you add but....

Not being able to deposit is a huge setback, if implemented this will be an issue to those of us without huge bank rolls already online.

I think the UIGEA needs to be clarified to not include games of skill, like poker.

Ok, so how about this. Lately every time I sit at a table I start a conversation about the PPA. Because I am a beggining player, I am at the lower tables (micro stakes). So many people have no idea what I am talking about. So it is an opportunity to start up a conversation. Have ou all started doing this?

I think it is one way to get the word out. Tonight I was on a table with 8 out of 9 US players. I got some real intrest I think. Any way, it's a start. Any other suggestions?

That's actually a really good idea. I thought of doing this myself but I play at an hour that most people online aren't american though. Keep up the good work though Spadezaspade. If we can get more members in the PPA it definately will help poker players voices be heard. I encourage anyone else to start talking about the PPA while they are at the tables as well.

Unfortunely, alot of the players are so busy trash talking to anyone who wins a hand, that its hard to get a word in edgewise. I play on Absolute and Pokerstars and its the same on both. It's so frustrating, I usually just turn off chat. But good luck to you all in accomplishing anything with that endeavor.

That's being worked on. Let's all write and call our reps to do our part.
