Where is the Director for North Carolina? Why aren't we more active? I never heard a thing from the PPA for the North Carolina vote since Kay Hagan was running against Dole. If it was such a pivotal race how come PPA had no presence? Feels like the PPA is just here to collect my membership and thats it!

Yes the NC part of the PPA hasn't been very active. Fortunately Kay Hagan won. I suggest sending her an email regarding the UIGEA if you get some time. I just sent such an email to her at: myvoice@kayhagan.com
Below I've posted the contents of my email to her. Feel free to copy or edit for your own purpose. Who knows if it'll make a huge difference but it doesn't take long to send an email. The more people who contact her (or her office) regarding the UIGEA and poker rights the better.
-------------------------------
This week the Bush administration passed the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). The UIGEA places an incomplete and reckless set of regulations and requirements on the US financial institutes. Not to mention the blatant infringement on personal rights and liberties of US citizens. With the current state of the economy our banks have enough on their plate with without being forced to act as a law enforcement arm of the federal government.
The current administration was irresponsible in forcing the UIGEA regulations on the country on it's final weeks before leaving office. I really hope Obama and fellow Democrats will look to overturn such last minute acts by the Bush administration once in office.
Poker is a game of skill where players compete against each other. There is no “house” profiting from losing players like in casino games of chance.
As a casual poker player, the most disturbing part of the UIGEA to me is not the effect it will have on banning online poker but the dangerous precedent it sets for censorship of the internet and personal freedoms by the federal government. The language in the UIGEA regarding forcing ISP's to block access to known unlawful gambling sites is irresponsible, frightening and a huge step backwards.
I appreciate that our nation is facing much greater issues then an online poker ban. However the overall tone of the UIGEA is frightening whether it's related to poker or not.
The US federal government should not be censoring or banning online poker but instead should be licensing and regulating it. Congressman Robert Wexler, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, Senator Robert Menendez, and others have sponsored bills that do just that. These bills provide protections for participants with excessive gaming habits. Bush’s UIGEA regulations offer these people nothing.
Thanks you for you time,
I hope my voice is heard,

If this is all there is to PPA then I am not going to renew my membership! I have heard nothing from the state of NC and that is crap. Now that the elections are over the PPA is on vacation until the next elections come around. I understand trying to change things in Washington but the NC chapter of the PPA has falling down on the job!

Maybe a better question is: what can WE do to help the cause in NC? I don't think we can expect to pay $20 and then sit back and wait for the problem to be solved. I would like for the PPA to coordinate local, grassroots efforts, but we need to all get involved in this.
