It doesn't make sense to me. Gov. Steve Beshear is pro gambling, and has pushed legislation to tax and regulate brick and mortar casinos in the state of Kentucky. But now he comes out and wants to trample on civil liberties and censor the internet because gambling is "dangerous".

What gives? Is this guy in the pocket of the brick and mortar casinos or what?

You're right that Beshear's coming off as a bit of a hypocrite. One of the reasons I voted for the guy was because of his pro-gambling stance. Now I feel betrayed.

I'd guess that the horse racing industry is behind a lot of this, and the state lottery, too. You see, Beshear doesn't oppose gambling as long as he's got his hand in the pot. But he's a fool if he thinks poker players are going to take their money from the tables to the track or to the lottery ticket.

Bottom line is that it is my business what I do in my home or with my money, not the government's.

Do you live in KY, Abe? You should write Beshear a letter expressing your disapproval if you've not already done so. (I live in Bowling Green, by the way.)

  3. Everyone from Ky needs to call Beshear's office and email him daily to drop the lawsuit and work to regulate online poker jusl like horse racing is regulated.

Kentuckians should also contact their state represtatives on this issue, and consider writing a letter to the editor of their local paper expressing their displeasure.

I sent every Kentucky PPA member another alert today to ask everyone to call Beshear. He's been hearing from a lot of us, and I imagine he'll continue to.
