If you live in the districts below, please call your Congressman in the next 2 hours. He or She will be voting by 5 PM on a bill that will help to exempt Internet Poker from the UIGEA regulations that may go into effect as early as November 1st. It takes 30 seconds and is a vital step in our efforts.

Make this quick call NOW, and tell your Representative’s staff:

    • You’re a constituent, a voter, and a proud poker player
    • Tell them Congress has a duty to clarify UIGEA
    • Tell them poker is not a crime – it’s a game of skill
    • Ask them to support your rights to play the great game by supporting

I just became a member of the PPA, about ten minutes ago, and saw this forum post.

Now, I know the result of the bill and everything, but I've been hearing a few mixed reviews on how this whole Frank bill has played out, or will continue to play out.

JTodd over at at the APCW (The Association of Players, Casinos & Webmasters) called the Payment System Protection Act a "bittersweet victory for our industry." He did so in this video:

    http://www.apcwinteractive.org/video/video/show?id=1994880%3AVideo%3A19091

What I'm wondering is, what's your take on what JTodd had to say (in the video)? I wish I was able to decipher what he was getting at, but unfortunately I could not. So, yeah, I'm just wondering what your take is on what JTodd said...or not even so much that -- but moreso, what's your take on the PSPA (and it's possible repercussions)?

    Thank you for your time.

    dropkickthesun,

He's basically saying the P.S.P.A is a step in the right direction and puts pressure on the government to take a position on online gambling instead of this "Were not sure exactly whats illegal but lets make it sound tough anyway" type of attitude. He called it bitter-sweet for 2 reasons:

Bitter: Since this basically forces the government to choose whats illegal or not once and for all, They

      COULD

decide poker and other casino games are illegal and then we would have to get the supreme court to rule in our favor in order to keep playing.

Sweet: Since there basically forced to decide, They also

      COULD

decide just sports betting is illegal and we would have won and you would probably see some of the firms that left the U.S try to get back into the market and everything would be peachy, However I Will not go back to the sites that left the U.S Market and nor do I recommend anyone else to rejoin the sites that abandoned us for no real reason other then "Scared of the U.S Government".

    Hope this helps.

    dropkickthesun,

Any concerns the NFL may have are certainly addressable. I don't share JTodd's concern on this bill.
