I recently wrote the Larocco and Minnick campaigns to get their position on playing poker online and efforts in congress to change the current law. I will post the replies when then come in. Meanwhile whats happening in Idaho? News and updates seem to be slow.

b7s, Any news on the campaign front. I would really like to hear that these candidates are in favor of legalizing poker in Idaho. My wife, kids, and I should be moving out there in the next few months.

(Just trying to keep the Idaho PPA news and happenings active.)

Sorry I didn't get back here before the election. I never received any responses from any of the candidates that would indicate a willingness to consider changing the law. Now that Minnick will be taking office I plan to contact him and I suggest every other Idaho member of PPA do the same. His current contact email is:

    info@waltforcongress.org

We should also contact Senator elect Risch:

    info@risch4idaho.com

As far as I'm concerned Senator Crapo is a lost cause. He is very anti-gambling and would close every casino in Idaho if he had the chance.

Last of all I think now is the time for Idaho PPA players to get going. If we don't start being proactive we might as well pull up the rocking chairs and play bridge.

PPA Chairman former Senator Alfonse D'Amato is excited to announce the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) State Director Fly-In to Washington, D.C. from July 20-23, 2009. The purpose of the Fly-In is for State Directors to lobby members of the U.S. House and Senate to support pro-poker legislation and to demonstrate to Congress that the poker community is an important constituency that cannot be ignored. Also joining us to lobby Washington will be some of the biggest names in poker, including two time WSOP bracelet winner Howard Lederer and the 2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer.

So, that being said. Wish me luck. I will be also advocating for Idaho's right to play poker in the privacy of our own homes. Social Gambling is still illegal in Idaho. If you haven't already done so, please sign up to show your support at Poker Players Alliance.com.

  6. The Police in Twin Falls closed a low limit poker game at the Twin Falls Senior Center and got themselves a ton of bad publicity as a result. The local TV station KMVT featured mother goose grandmother types protesting the actions of the local police. They had consistently donated percentages of the action to the Senior Center.

If you want to play poker in Idaho, start a charity. Seems the police always look the other way for the "widows and orphans" games.

Wonderful news :o) I am very happy to announce that the PPA will be putting on our first Idaho charity poker tournament event in Coeur d' Alene, ID. Idaho has one of the strictest "no social gambling laws". The police do look the other way most of the time when it is in the privacy of your own home. But, they enforce when you try to organize any type of charitable event using poker and/or $$. I have the opportunity to offer a "4 day Vegas vacation" as first prize (donated by local roofing company). All you have to do to play is; donate to charity we are supporting.

Any advice or support is always appreciated!

I will keep everyone updated to date and time. If you would like to organize something in your area let me know :o)

    Proud to Play,
