Jim Martin won the Democratic runoff yesterday to challenge Saxby Chambliss (Republican incumbent) for the US Senate. Does anyone know Jim Martin's position on the UIGEA or legalized poker in general? I have written but received no response. I know for sure I will NOT vote for Chambliss based on, among other things, his support for UIGEA. I know the Libertarians are on the right side on this, and I would vote for them on principle if there is no one better, but it would be nice to be vote for someone with a fighting chance of unseating Chambliss.

I'm in the same boat you are. I know Chambliss wants nothing to do with legalized poker, but I have not heard from Jim Martin either. I would like to know where he stands.

I never got a response or saw any policy from Jim Martin on the matter, so I ended up voting for Libertarian Mr. Buckley (along with any other Libertarian on the ballot), as I didn't particularly like Mr. Martin's other policies. It looks that, at the very least, that helped cause a runoff between Chambliss and Martin. That sets up a good opportunity to write both of the candidates again. Maybe Mr. Martin will give me a reason to vote for him, or at the very least, those of us who voted Democratic or Libertarian because of this issue can let Sen. Chambliss know that his anti-freedom stance cost him what should have been easy reelection in a very red state where even McCain won easily.
