  1. Hi Everyone!

My name is Michele - I run the web site promoting charity poker tournaments in Michigan: http://umichiganpoker.com

I also publish a monthly newsletter: Gameside News & Views - all about poker in Michigan.

Poker is the lifeblood of my business. Of course, there are a few things I'd love to change, and a lot I'd like to keep as is!

I keep hearing rumors and information through the grapevine about Michigan legislation that will change how the state runs charity poker events (Millionaire's Parties). Where can I find out more information about this?

How can I reach the Michigan PPA Representative? I've e-mailed a couple times with no response.

You can reach the Michigan Director by sending an email to me (travilnman). I answered an email from you some time ago. Any information about changes to the charity poker rules will be on the Michigan lottery site. I have not heard of any proposed changes. If you know of any proposals please let me know.

  3. Thanks for the note! I must have missed your e-mail - thanks for the forum reply. I work with the state Charitable Gaming Board on a regular basis - great people - though terribly overworked.

  4. Hello,

See Michigan state area doesn't get much traffic, but I will start to participate.

Michele I like your site and will try to make an event or two.

  5. HI Breeze -

Thanks for visiting the site! I hope to run into you in real life some time. I'll be playing in Jackson on Saturday, and Woodhaven on Sunday.

  6. hey guys. I don't know how we'd send an email to a member that doesn't have a profile. (Like the director, travlinman)

Recent rule changes require that no one being paid by the charities play the same day/location that they work.

According to several sources, they will be looking to shut down any places that do not observe a "voluntary" 21+ age restriction in the near future. Also looking to shut down any charities and/or rooms that do not have their paperwork in impeccable order.

They apparently have hired some 300 people to wander around the state checking rooms for rule violations, as well, and have threatened that immediate license revocation will happen.

This is all from several "sources", and nothing from the "horse's mouth", so I can't vouch for any of it's real accuracy.. however, I can tell you that many of (not all of) the guys I know running rooms right now are afraid that they won't be around much longer.
