In my book, Kitchen Table Poker I discuss the various ways players can cheat when playing online. Further, I point out that sites are only as secure and fair as the owners and operators of the site are willing to make it. Cheating is as old as Poker and as prevalent as we, the players, are willing to tolerate. Use your own judgment when choosing which sites to play but at this point in time, I play only on Full Tilt and Poker Stars. I do not vouch for the honesty or integrity of either site but do feel fairly secure in my choices. I once played at Doyle's Room but was not satisfied with the resolution of a complaint that I had with them and discontinued play there. There are a lot of sites that "rate" poker rooms - be aware, most of these sites only give the "bonus" that various sites allow a player when they invest cash. Some pretend to actually rate the site, but most give Absolute a very high rating and as we've seen, that is inaccurate. This is a very good arguement for legalizing online poker in the US so that it can be regulated and controlled.

  2. Gary, I agree with you 100%. I have had the same notion of honesty and integrity for a few years now. My idea is to involve an independent 3rd party service to manage the card distribution for the poker site. We have built the technology allowing this to happen.

The mechanism removes the ability for a card room to manipulate the cards and gaurds against internal fraud. I have started a thread here:

With this technology we can make on-line card rooms (and casinos) as fair to play as brick-n-mortar establishments. Not only are the hole cards masked from the poker site and other players, the active hand data is stored securely off-site by the independent 3rd party.

I fully believe to move on-line gaming forward, this is the only solution to ensure the honesty and integrity of Internet based play.

Very interesting Nick, I like it and Gary I couldn't agree more. Please keep me (us all) informed with what you are doing Nick. I'm sure if the government regulated the online play a good contract could come your way. Keep doing what you are doing.

  4. We are scheduled to be on the Ante Up Magazine poker pod cast this Friday. And I think they wrote a story about us in their FLA poker magazine.

I'm sorry, but what does this topic have to do with Ultimatebet and Absolute poker and cheating except to promote your book?
