    Hi everyone. Just curious to know if anyone here has heard of Scott Kowalske?? He was recently profiled in a Cardplayer.com article titled Scott Kowalske: Playing With The Pain - One Year Later. Scott has a very rare, very painful disease called Chronic Wasting Disease. There is a charity poker tournament to be held on July 27th at 9:00pm Eastern time on Pokerstars to try and help raise funds for Scott's treatment. Without it, he will die from this illness. Scott is a part of the poker community and as nice a guy as you could ask for. As a PPA member I am asking if anyone who reads this would please consider playing in this tournament and supporting such a deserving cause. The buy in is only $22.00. If you find that his story speaks to you, but you cannot play the event, please consider spreading the word.

    Respectfully,

    This story does speak to me. But maybe not in the way you may like to hear. I have done some reseacrh after I heard of this. I do oplogise for bluntness of my findings.

    Chronic wasting disease
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia;

    Clinical signs
    Most cases of CWD occur in adult animals. The disease is progressive and always fatal......

    From Web MD;

    Definition of Chronic wasting disease

    Chronic wasting disease: A transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) of North American deer and elk, a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that produces spongiform changes in the brain and chronic weight loss leading to the death of these animals. There is no known relationship between chronic wasting disease (CWD) and any other TSE of animals or people....

    I'm, sorry, but I don't see any evidence that this can affect humans in any way. Now that I'm in the donating spirit. I just need to think of a good charity to donate my hard earned money to. I know, I could give a few bucks to someone who is down and out on his poker luck.

    I realize this was from a while ago, but I wanted to set the record straight. See the article at http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/4681-scott-kowalske-playing-with-pain-one-year-later for the story.

  4. The story has a comment on it, supposedly from this Scott guy, who said that his local casino banned him because he had a rare disease. That makes about as much sense as the guy contracting a disease from a deer.

    It looks to me like someone cranked out a scam on Jungblut and Cardplayer.
