The purpose of this topic is for PPA members to post ideas about what we can do here in Arizona to further the cause for poker. No idea is too big or small. Please post, as we can take advantage of our collective creativity to get the message out there.

If you would prefer to communicate your idea to me directly, you can e-mail me at AZ@theppa.org.

    As always, thanks.

I believe I mentioned this to you Steve, but I really feel like we are not going to change anything in Arizona or else where unless our members are registered to vote. Writing your representatives is a great thing but remember we have the power to help choose them. So if you have not written your local, state and federal representatives please do that first and foremost! Just remember it starts with us as individuals so make sure you are registered to vote in Arizona and when it comes time to vote, you will know if you are reading the local papers, also you will be sent an early vote form (you may or may not be eligible) but none the less now you know you need to figure out where these people stand on issues and then finally you can help us all by getting people into office who are like minded but also willing to help us fight for this truly great American game.
This is also brings to my attention that we are going to need to contact these people before they get into their prospective offices and find out where they stand. Then we can post here and let others know in Phoenix and else where in the state where our future representatives are on the issues that are so very crucial to us all as poker players.

I think that we need to get the national PPA databases in order to seed the local grassroots organizing efforts. We in Colorado have had them solicit volunteers using the database, which were then forwarded to the state, which allows the national PPA to control the database. I think that is a reasonable first step, but the local org efforts will need to have more control in the future in order to be effective. The issues of privacy are obviously important.

  6. Thanks to Judge Harold Lee there are many more local card rooms opeing throughout AZ. I am visiting each of these rooms to do room reviews for a poker media site that I work with. What we (I) need to do is walk in with flyers of the PPA, We need to let poker players know what is going on. Many people go play poker but are un-aware of UIGEA and the Poker Players Alliance. PPA supports americans rights to play poker therefore all poker players should be active supporters.

Steve, get me something that I can drop off to the room owners/managers. We should have flyers in every poker room!

    Aaron,

I look forward to your reviews. Christine at Poker Nation already has PPA brochures. I have put in a request to the national PPA to send you a box of brochures for additional distribution.

Thanks for volunteering to drop them off at the various poker rooms.

    Aaron,

A box of brochures is on its way to you from D.C. You should receive them in a few days. Thanks again for offering to help.

As Chuck stated it's important for people to register to vote and then actually vote, if we are to make change we need to participate. Also, and I mentioned this at our meeting on Saturday, if the people we are voting for don't think this is an important issue (and very few do) then it doesn't matter who's in office. As long as voters don't tell them it's an important issue, the politicos will never pay attention. And, of course, the voters can't tell them if they don't understand what the issue is, what to say, or where to go to say it. I think some type of media event at Jon Kyl's office would attract attention. It would allow us to make a statement on TV that would possibly ruffle some feathers and generate some phone calls.

As I said in our meeting I have to agree a little media would not hurt to make it an issue and I think we should cook up something. I would be happy to go down in front of one of these offices and try as long as it was with in the PPA's guidelines for such actions. i think we should contemplate this very carefully and it should be a major topic at our next meeting. Good having you there Groo!
