Here is a website detailing who will be competing for Rick Renzi's seat in Arizona Congressional District 1: http://www.arizonapolitics.net/azcongressionaldistrict1electionrace.htm

Does anybody have any intel on any of the candidates or any thoughts on who we poker players should be supporting?

Here is an article out of today's Arizona Republic that discusses Renzi's seat:

    http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2008/07/13/20080713congress0713.html

This is what it says about the front runners:

"The leading contender to keep the seat in GOP hands is Sydney Hay, a mining-industry lobbyist who divides her time living in Scottsdale and Munds Park. A handful of Democrats are vying for the seat, as well, led by former Flagstaff legislator Ann Kirkpatrick and Howard Shanker, who practices law in Flagstaff and Tempe."

We should definitely get some intel on where the candidates stand in respect to poker.

I'll do some digging and see if I can't find an email or a phone number to contact them.

I have gathered this info so far. I have their congressional emails last because most of the time it is just an automatic response. So I searched for their work information to contact them there as I am sure they still are involved. I have sent them emails and will try and call them tomorrow to see what I can find out. Here is some of the information I have gathered if any others would like to try and get a response.

Howard is lawyer and here is his work address and info.

Sydney was actually a school teacher, turned house mom, turned business owner (ran a fitness club out of her house) then she got into politics, then opened a consulting firm and also ran for the seat in 2002 (AZ republic reported she won and she had not...oops that darn Dewey-Truman thing lol)
