I'd like to propose some posting suggestions to increase clarity in the forums.
Some messages are of local interest, or at least have a geographic element that ties them to a particular state. I'd suggest including the state in the subject line. As in the following topic that discusses an issue in Maine:
Police raid Bangor poker tournament
This could be changed to "ME: Police raid Bangor poker tournament". This uses the two letter abbreviation for Maine to identify the locale.
Or in the case of a posting about activities in Ohio we could change
Leadership
to "OH: Leadership".
I actually went in and edited these two subject lines. Now admittedly both of these topics were in the individual state forums. But when you view /forums/ you just see the subject lines and not the states. This provides a way to tell a little more about the topic.
Another guideline I'd like to suggest is to put the text of your message in the message text portion, not in the subject line. For instance a subject line of
What is this? Why is this not on the front page of the PPA website?
This has 14 words in the subject line, and only four words in the article that was posted under this. So is the article really about Maryland payment processors for online sports betting, or is the thread about, as the title expresses, the PPA webmaster's job functions?
In a similar vein, don't post an article that starts the first sentence in the subject line and finishes the sentence as the article text.
Another example of a misleading subject line was
Can't see chat
Whether the proper place or not, this was a request for technical support with an add on odds calculator for poker rooms, umm.... the PPA Calculator. A better topic might be "PPA Calculator - Can't see chat".
These are all specific subject lines I did edit and change on here as far back as three weeks ago.
I hope by providing context in our subject lines we can improve the quality of the PPA forums.
