    6th Congressional District

The Poker Players Alliance fights for the rights of poker players in the United States and Colorado. As a part of our advocacy, the Colorado Chapter of the Poker Players Alliance has researched the positions of the candidates for the upcoming Republican primary on the issue of your right to play poker on the internet.

The internet has evolved to become a venue for video games and other games of skill, such as poker. In California, poker is clearly classified as a game of skill with legal card rooms and pending legislation to regulate online poker. However, online poker is being attacked by some who have characterized this great American game of skill as a form of gambling.

The Democratic primary is not contested in the 6th Congressional District.

The following summarizes our analysis of each of their positions:

    Mike Coffman

Mike is a supporter of your right to play poker online. He also supports reasonable regulation by the government to protect game integrity and player funds. He also notes that the best government regulation is the least government regulation.

    Steve Ward

Steve highlighted his opposition to any form of gambling or poker in Colorado, noting that he voted against all gaming legislation while in the Colorado legislative. Steve thinks that a responsible adult should not be allowed to choose what they want to do for recreation and favors a total ban on internet poker.

    Ted Harvey

Ted opposes the lottery as a regressive form of government funding. He is ambivalent about internet poker and will study the issue before forming a position.

    Wil Armstrong
